The truth about bunions
1. Many think that only senior citizens have bunions. If you
are one of them, you may well be surprised to find out
that although bunions are commonly linked to the
elderly, they can actually start much sooner. Common
sources of bunions are abnormalities of the feet and flat
feet, but they are most generally caused by wearing the
wrong footwear.
Women have a higher chance of developing bunions than
men. This is as a result of wearing high heels with
pointing toes. You may think the shoes look pretty but
they may be creating a problem which may only be
remedied by a surgical procedure.
What are bunions?
While wearing tight footwear, your large toe has no other
option but to bend and point toward the adjoining toe,
pushing the joint out of socket. To make up for this
repositioning, the outer joint grows. Tendons begin to
force that toe into an unnatural position. As time passes,
the change in the position of the joints becomes
permanent and very painful.
This change of placement impacts the toe mechanics. The
big toes's tendons bear more weight when you walk. This
tends to produce a broad support foundation in normal
feet, but the toe tends to roll forward if the big toes is
forced to bend continuously. Shoes which make the toes
bend make the bunions worse. The fit of a shoe is far
2. more important than how it looks as far as preventing
bunions goes.
If the physiology of you foot is prone to bunions, shoes
that are too restricted will speed up the growth of
bunions. Wearing shoes of an appropriate shoe size will
at least postpone the growing of bunions.
Symptoms of Bunions
The big toe overlaps the adjacent toe creating
redness and slight inflammation.
An extreme discomfort in the toe joint
A protruding bump which runs along the borders at
the big toes' foundation
A dull pain in the toe joint when walking or after
walking
Inflammation or redness near the toe joint
Can you treat bunions and is it possible to cure
them?
It is impossible to eradicate bunions without surgery. You
might have some luck with exercise designed for the foot
and toe joints. A foam pad can help to relieve the force
on the tendon. An ice pack and anti-inflammatory
medication may assist in reducing swelling.
3. The development of bunions may be slowed a great deal
or maybe even stopped altogether by wearing the correct
shoes. The best cure is not wear shoes that do not fit
properly and avoid high heel shoes with pointed toes.
If you have worn inappropriate footwear and now wish to
halt the progress of Bunions, Happy Feet Plus will help.
Supportive footwear with an adequate toe box, like those
from Birkenstock, FinnComfort, Birki’s, ALPRO,
Footprints, Tatami, and Papillio tend not to squeeze your
toes together.
Instead they provide an adequate amount of room for the
toes to find their natural position. The footwear also
provides excellent metatarsal and medial arch support
that helps keep the musculoskeletal structure of your foot
in the proper supportive position.
