• Angra was an obligatory port of call
from the 15th century until the arrival
of the steamship in the 19th century.
• it provided ships, mostly Portuguese,
a port to rest, the possibility to
replenish food and water supplies, to
leave the sick and engage new sailors.

buildings were made to stand out and show the importance of its
owners. Many are still standing and used to this day. Our
obligation is to preserve them and their historical significance.

• Angra do Heroísmo lost population
• Possible reasons:
Noise pollution

• There was an earthquake in 1980 that crumbled
the city, forcing people to leave the centre of
Angra.
• many of the inhabitants never returned, Even
after the reconstruction process.

11. People also moved to the outskirts
due to the price of housing, thus
emptying the city more and more.
In 2021, Angra do Heroísmo had 33 799
people, of which only 10 800 people lived
in the city centre

• Increase the number of
pedestrian only streets

It will reduce part of the noise
polution,
and increase pedestrian circulation
,while they are in the centre,
making city life more agreeable

decrease, helping the environment

environment?
The energy we use to recharged our cars
needs to be from our sustainable sources
Install more charging stations around the

Improve public transportation network by
increasing the use of electrical buses
