Key Concepts – Narrative and Structure.
 All stories begin with an ‘equilibrium’ (a state of normality – good, bad or
neutral)
 This is disrupted by some event, setting in motion of series of other events.
 These problems are solved so that order can be restored and the narrative ends
with a second but a different equilibrium.
Silver Linings Playbook Trailer:
At the beginning of the trailer it shows that everything is fine until Patrick walks in.
he becomes the distruption of the film because he is the one who is focused upon
when watching the movie. This is because people are expecting the distruption to
occur else where it is clearly shown in the beginning of the trailer. These problems are
only solved nearer towards the end it is then also shown another because it another
storyline occurs which is then shown just like during the end of the trailer when Pat
and Tiffany are dancing and when pat is saying a quote on how if you don’t follow
your dreams you will never become yourself.
The Notebook Trailer:
First of all, in the beginning of the trailer it shows two people riding a bike laughing.
It also shows two older couples sitting down while the man tells the story of how
Noah and Alli first met which was at the carnival. The disruption of the film is when
Noah jumps onto the spinning wheel where Allie is sitting next to man and he decieds
to slip, the only way to survive is if Allie agrres to go on a date with him. The
problem towards the end occurs when Allie's Mother says that she isn't allowed to see
Noah again. This is then solved when nearer towards the end, it shows that Noah is
then together again with Allie which becomes the second equilibrium.
The Vow Trailer:
In the beginning of the trailer it shows a couple saying their vows then they runaway
once the vows are done. It also shows how the newly wed couple are having so much
fun living a married life but when suddenly, they end up in a car crash. At this point
of the trailer this becomes the disruption and where Paige also forgets who her
husband. The problem doesnt get solved until right till the end of the trailer/movie this
explains why Paige never got married and that near to the end she deciedes to go to a
coffee shop where she meets her ex husband and deciedes to be friends again this is
then the ending of a new/second equilibrium of the movie.
