publishing industry
• The magazine industry is pretty big. It has 2,681 business in the United
Kingdom and the revenue is a Annual fee of £6bn. The publishing aspect of
the industry is made up of diverse groups of industries including Books,
Directories, mailing lists, Journalists, magazine and business media and
newspaper ETC. The publishing industry is linked with photography and
advertisement because the adverts pay the magazine money.
Companies
• Vogue. An American fashion and lifestyle magazine that is published
monthly in 23 national and regional editions by Conde Nast. Vogue means
“In Style” in French. Conde Nast is the owner of the vogue magazine
collection, Conde aims at fashion every month when they publish. The age
aimed in this magazine would be about 20+. All together Conde produces
18 consumer magazines she has 27 websites and has more than 50 apps
for mobiles and tablets.

• Kerrang! Is a UK-based magazine devoted to Rock music published by Bauer Media
group. Circulation is 42,077. The founder is Alan Lewis first issue at 6th June 1981
published weekly. Bauer Media group industries in publishing and broadcasting is
a multinational media company that has one headquarters based in Hamburg,
Germany which operates in 16 countries around the world. Worldwide circulation
of Bauer Media group’s magazines titles amounts to around 38 million magazines a
week. They also publish take a Break, Bella and That’s life!. Bauer Media brands Q
magazine and Kerrang. Bauer has a 50% stake in the British Company BOX
television the other half owned by Channel 4, which also includes: 4Music - The
BOX – Heat – Kerrang - Kiss - Magic - Smash Hits.
Other magazine products
• There are other platforms that can have magazine stuff on it such as
Blackberry and IOS ETC. This gives magazines a huge advantage of having
more buyers, with the technology these new platforms have everyone has
one of them so the sales will increase vastly. The advantage of having
websites over a magazine is that maybe when your waiting for a bus and
you want to read a magazine, if you haven’t got one of them you could use
your phone for magazine information.
Advantages of having presence on other platforms
• Magazines also have the advantage of being used on different platforms. This is a advantage because
especially nowadays everyone has a phone that have the internet, Apps to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.
ETC, this is good because there could be advertisements these applications showing people magazines;
When they are out, how much ETC. This will help vastly with the amount of sales.
How does the publishing industry relate to other creative media sectors.
• The publishing industry can relate to the newspaper industry, every newspaper needs a story, the
publishing industry is the one that makes sure that each story is at its best standard and is ready to be
published onto a newspaper.
