1. All Time Low
All Time low are an American pop punk band. The lighting in this image is
quite low key which could reflect them as they a band. Their costumes are
extremely dark and the main colour focus is black. A prop included in this
image is a spray can and the background is filled with graffiti, this could
suggest they are quite a rebellious band and their music will reflect that. This
image has a formal balance as they are placed equally within the frame. The
hairstyles that a few of the members have got are quite long and dyed. This
helps to convey genre as it is a stereotype expected from this type of band.
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran is an English singer-songwriter who creates music in the styles of pop,
R&B, folk and acoustic. This image includes the use of direct address as he is looking
straight into the camera. An obvious prop included in this photo is a guitar, this is a
very important part of Ed’s image as he does a lot of acoustic work and this helps to
convey this. The costume that he is wearing is extremely casual and informal as it is
just a plain blue t-shirt. This shows that he is laid back and does not care so much
about his image and is just completely focussed upon his music. Another clear aspe ct
of this photo is his tattoos on his arms; this gives the image some colour and may
also give him a slight edge.
Miley C yrus
Miley Cyrus is an American singer who specialises in pop, country, rock, hip hop and
dance. This image includes the use of direct address as she is looking directly at you.
She has limited amounts of clothes on and is obviously showing a lot of flesh in this
image. The bright red lipstick stands out along with her nail varnish as it is an attent ion
grabbing colour because it is a very intense colour that represents strength, power and
determination. This image has a formal balance as she is situated in the middle
although she is turned to the side slightly. She is wearing a lot of make-up and is
wearing limited clothing which could further highlight her as a sex symbol. The lighting
in this picture is very high key which suggests the upbeat and happy feel to her music.
One direction
One direction are a British/Irish pop-rock boy band. This image includes direct address
as they are all looking straight into the camera. They are wearing black and white
clothing and are surrounded by a crowd of at one of their concerts; this highlights how
popular they are with teenage girls in particularly. The colours of the clothes that they
are wearing could represent their genre as they are pop/rock. The white signifies the
pop side of their music whereas the black signifies the rock. Harry is the member that
is situated exactly in the middle of the group which conveys the media’s perspective of
the ‘main member’ or main focus.
Little mix
Little mix are a British pop, R&B and hip hop girl band. This image includes the use
of direct address. They are wearing very brightly coloured clothing which gives off a
powerful hero kind of feel. Their outfits make them appear as very strong and
determined which could suggest that they are proud of who they are and they are
representing/standing up for their gender. The lighting in this image is very high key
which highlights the pop side to their genre as it gives off a feeling of happiness and
fun. They are also wearing bright coloured makeup to make them stand out more.
