Children in Need of Care & Protection in India
Over 30 million
children in India
in need of care
and protection
Mostly “outside
the system”…
exposed to
trafficking and
destitution
Estimated 9500
Child Care
Institutions across
India
An estimated
370,000 children
stay in child care
institutions (CCIs)
Only 3000-4000
adoptions per year
At least 150,000 children aged 14-18 and young
adults aged 19-21 known to be within the system
Vision, Mission & Values
To build a nation where
children in need of care
and protection are nurtured
into a happy and
contributing member of
society
We believe that every child needs a family or a family-like care in
a well-managed institution. With this objective we work towards:
• Increasing adoptions and support to adoptive parents and
children
• Maintaining higher standards in child care homes
• Supporting children in their transition into independent living and
secure livelihood
• Supporting Government policies and their implementation Our
role is not only to provide direct services but also act as a
catalyst for systemic and sustainable change
Every Child Matters
• Holistic Approach
• Sustainable Change
• Best Management
Practices
VISION MISSION VALUES
Our work with children in CCI’s
We aim to act as catalysts- leveraging existing institutions and empowering them to improve child outcomes
These CCI’s suffer from a variety of different bottlenecks that prevent them from providing family like care to
CNCP children:
• Lack of clean facilities
• Malnutrition
• Poor infrastructure, health & hygiene
• Resource constraints for education and aftercare
How Do We Bridge the Gap?
• Conduct a comprehensive gap analysis using our CCI Evaluation tool at the start of the engagement
with the CCI to identify key bottlenecks and target areas for our intervention
• Devise a 3-5 year engagement plan for the CCI either under our GO WIDE program or our GO DEEP
program that addresses these highlighted problem areas
• Roll out sub-programs under our 4 categories- Health and Nutrition, Education and Child Development,
Aftercare and Livelihood and Capacity Building and Adoption – custom to the needs of the CCI
• Weekly Monitoring and Evaluation of Program Outcomes
• Yearly Evaluation of outcomes against original targets
