2. .
1. The easiest way is to make a
mock-up is to create your zine
using blank sheets of paper.
2. Then number the pieces of
paper and take the zine apart
again.
3. You will then have a layout for
your own zine. Do rough drawings
and write notes of what should
appear on each page. This is similar
to your storyboard, but you can
see how it will work in the actual
format you are planning to use.
3. Sample Standard Zine Layouts
Your assignment is to do an 8 page zine which is two folded
sheets of 8 ½ x 11 paper. This is a minimum.
You may play with other formats as long as you are
designing the same amount of surface area or more and it’s
at least 8 different layouts.
4. These one page zines are very
popular on the internet right
now. I suppose you could do an
8 or 16 page zine with tabloid
paper and it would fit the
assignment.
Make a 16 page zine using one
piece of folded paper.
Cut on the solid lines and fold on
the dotted lines.
One staple should be enough.
5. .
In a standard half-size zine, you will have 4 pages per sheet of paper,
including the cover and the back.
6. .
Create one of these formats or one of your choosing with plain printer paper,
number it, and sketch your plans on the pages. This is your rough mockup. If you keep
your sketches light enough, you may be able to add to this mockup for your original zine
that will eventually be copied.
Editor's Notes
Show mock up with lights up.
This is an eight page zine and way too small, but you could get multiple pages on a sheet of 11” x 17’ paper.
