Summary
Etiquette And Its Importance
While we learn about travelling, it is
equally important to learn how to be a
polite traveller (not the kind of traveller
everyone hates).
We have learnt about different kinds of
social etiquette before. Today, we will
learn about expected behaviour at an
airport and on an aeroplane.

Examples of Poor Etiquette At
Airports And Airplanes
The smelly (over-perfumed)
traveller
They stink, and stink up the
surrounding areas, making it very
difficult for passengers to breathe
properly.

The seat kicker
These people (even adults do
this!), repeatedly kick the seat in
front of them. Imagine trying to
sleep or eat in such a situation!
Inattentive Parents
Parents sometimes leave their kids alone while
they work, play games on their phones or simply
sleep. This makes the bored child go in search of
distractions, which might cause problems for other
passengers.

“Blind” Parents
Parents of kids who throw tantrums
and are rude, refuse to discipline
them, instead, they fight with those
passengers who dare to complain
about their children.
The seat recliners
These people recline their seats so
far behind, they might as well be
sitting in your seat.

The Chatty Traveller
These passengers have been
voted by many travel magazines
as the worst neighbours to have
when you travel. All they do is
talk, talk, talk; even if all you
want is for them to stay silent.
Overhead Luggage Space
Stealers
They bring so much luggage that
there is no space for your luggage
(or anyone else’s).

The Armrest Grabber
The people who sit in the middle seat
have a major problem. Where to put
their hands? These people often end up
using the armrests on both sides of
their seat, not realising (or not caring)
that these are shared armrests- for
them and their neighbours.
