SHIFTING PORTFOLIO
        TO
   E-PORTFOLIO

    ANPS Teachers’ Conference
   Tiara Bangsa, October 16, 2010
A portfolio is a record of students’ involvement in learning which is designed to demonstrate success,
growth, higher-order thinking, creativity, assessment strategies and re ection. A portfolio is a celebration of
an active mind at work. It provides a picture of each student’s progress and development over a period of
time both as individual and group learners. It enables students to re ect with teachers, parents and peers
in order to identify their strengths and growth as well as areas for improvement, and then to set individual
goals and establish teaching and learning plans.
                                            (Making PYP Happen, p.50)
The multimedia portfolio is a multifaceted tool
which can be used to fill several different
purposes, but the most important is that it
promotes learning among both student and
teachers. This type of portfolio will be an
important asset to school and individual as
society heads into the Digital Age. (Hartnell-
Young & Morriss 1999, p. 105)
"An e-portfolio is a learner-driven
collection of digital objects
demonstrating experiences,
achievements and evidence of learning.
E-portfolios provide learners with a
structured way of recording their
learning experiences and work history.
E-portfolios can be developed quickly
and easily in the workplace to capture
live evidence through the use of mobile
phones and point-of-view devices, and
can include a range of digital evidence
such as audio, video, photographs and
blogs". (http://www.flexiblelearning.net.au/
content/e-portfolios-4)
Why do we need e-portfolio?

How can we develop e-portfolio within our learning?

Who responsible for developing e-portfolio at school?

How does e-portfolio help students in learning?
PROCEDURES
FIRST STAGE

Collecting and Converting - teachers and students work on
selected materials. Hard copy to soft copy (digital
conversion).

Students will store the files into school server. Teachers
check. The school with web-based e-portfolio or other form
of digital portfolio (students with personal access to laptop)
may let the students upload the files individually.

Teachers have to make sure that the students save the files
with the right extension and size.
PROCEDURES
SECOND STAGE

Collection and Reflection. Teachers and students make sure
that all collections have reflection. Reflection can be journal,
peer review and also feedback from teachers.

Younger students certainly need teachers in collecting and
selecting proper works.

Reflection storage can be in school server, blogs, school
learning management system or manually written based on
hard copy reflection.
PROCEDURES
THIRD STAGE

Selected works must be addressed to certain showcase place
such as school web page or local server, wiki, moodle,
joomla, LMS, or any educational website desired.

Reflection - students must reflect once again, asking why
they choose or are proud of the works.

As showcase, the e-portfolio will show the students
understanding on the concept and knowledge gained. It will
also show the interaction of technology across curriculum
used by the students.
PROCEDURES
LAST STAGE

Presenting the e-portfolio. There are two types of
presentation: real and virtual. When the final product is
presented in the classroom the students will get the feedback
from the audience, i.e., parents, teachers and other school
members. The presentation can be working automatically
when all works stored in a website. The audience can access
it anywhere and anytime. In this case, the feedback form
within the web is required.
PILOT PROJECT
   WEBSITE BASED - WEEBLY

Within our school, we are still looking for the best tool for our e-portfolio. One
drag and drop website that we found is weebly. We also look for learning
management system to support the 21st century learning really happen.
THANK YOU
