  2. 2. Have you tried to lose weight and have not succeeded? Knowing the mistakes you may be making and how to avoid them would help you achieve your fat loss goal.
  3. 3. Here are some reasons why you may be struggling to lose weight and how you can deal with them and start losing your excess body fat.
  4. 4. Reason #1: Going For Fad Diets Fad diets do NOT work! If you really want to lose weight use time-tested healthy eating plans that give real results.
  5. 5. If you go with the newest diet craze, you would have trouble sticking with it in the long run. And some of these diets are just not healthy.
  6. 6. Reason #2 – Consuming Very Little Calories Restricting your caloric intake too much could cause muscle loss and building muscle tissue is a lot harder than losing fat.
  7. 7. A better way is to consume 1800 – 2000 calories a day of healthy foods. At the same time engaging in a combination of high intensity cardio and weight training.
  8. 8. Reason #3 – Staying Too Long Without Eating When you go long hours between meals, it slows your body’s metabolism which makes it more difficult to burn body fat.
  9. 9. Instead of eating 2 or 3 big meals, try eating 5 smaller meals daily – this would keep your metabolism at optimal levels making it easier for you to lose weight.
  10. 10. Reason #4 – Setting Unrealistic Goals Aiming to lose 50 lbs (23 kg) in 1 month is unrealistic if you live a normal life. You are not on the Biggest Loser TV show!
  11. 11. If you are just starting out, make a more realistic goal of losing 1 – 2 pounds of fat every week. After some weeks you would be impressed with your progress.
  12. 12. Reason #5 – Failure To Organize And Plan If you don’t have a plan that describes in detail how you would achieve your fat loss goal, how do you expect to succeed?
  13. 13. Write down things like when you would mix up your exercise routine, how often you would exercise, your meal plan, how you would watch your calorie intake during holidays etc.
  14. 14. Reason #6 – Failing To Stock Up On Healthy Foods It is more difficult to lose weight if you don’t have easy access to healthy foods at home!
  15. 15. When you have healthy foods stocked at home, it becomes easier to just grab one of them to eat instead of the usual cookies, chips or candies.
  16. 16. Reason #7 – Failing To Remove Bad Foods Temptations Just like you need to stock up on healthy foods, you also need to get rid of junk foods and fast foods in your home.
  17. 17. Let’s be realistic here, junk foods and fast foods tastes better than healthy foods. That is why we usually have cravings for them – so get rid of them!
  18. 18. Reason #8 – Not Getting Regular Exercise Forget the fad diets and products that promise you results without exercise… if you want to faster results in a healthy manner, you must exercise.
  19. 19. You need to get in the habit of doing high-intensity cardio exercise and lifting weights 3 – 4 times a week to burn your fat while also maintaining your muscles.
  20. 20. Reason #9 - Not Following A Proper Fat Loss Program You need a program that has a meal plan, exercise plan and a lifestyle plan with suggestions and guidelines to follow.
  21. 21. If you are following a detailed fat loss program, you would be able to know when and how to adjust your diet that it does not sabotage your efforts.
  22. 22. Reason #10 – Did You Even Start? Just because you exercised for 20 minutes or ate some vegetable salad for lunch doesn’t mean you have “started” your weight loss journey!
  23. 23. You need to make the commitment to start and stay motivated till you start seeing results. If you don’t take consistent actions… well nothing happens.
  24. 24. If you put the effort to avoid these 10 mistakes, you would no longer have to be asking the question “why am I not losing weight”.
