South Park Middle School conducted a STaR Chart assessment to evaluate its use of educational technology. The assessment showed strengths in internet connectivity and network infrastructure, but weaknesses in implementing technology curriculum standards, leadership and vision for technology, and technology budgeting. While educator training opportunities were increasing, more progress was still needed. The STaR Chart identified areas for the school to focus on improving technology integration, such as providing more leadership and planning around technology, allocating more funds, and ensuring curriculum standards for technology applications were followed in all classrooms.

4. The Texas Campus STaR Chart Can Be Used: To create and/or update the district’s technology plan. By the campus and district to document progress toward meeting No Child Left Behind, Title II, Part D requirements for technology literacy for students and teachers as well as technology integration across the curriculum. Our state's definition of technology literate is proficiency in the Technology Applications TEKS for students and the SBEC Technology Applications Standards for teachers. To apply for grants. The Texas Campus STaR Chart will help schools identify their educational technology needs as they apply for grants. To track progress on use of No Child Left Behind Title II, Part D formula and discretionary funds.

12. Summary The STaR Chart shows our greatest strengths as Internet Connectivity and Local Area Network Wide Area Network. The STaR Chart shows our greatest weakness as TA TEKS Implementation, Leadership and Vision and Budget. When we have the technology on campus and the district has encouraged the schools to use it, our campus is the only one falling behind because leadership does not want to utilize the technology. The TA TEKS are not implemented on a regular basis. Educator Preparation and Development would be a good option. The reason is there has been movement in this area but it has been small movement. The STaR Chart scores show improvement but the numbers show a need for concern and attention.
