The Archaea Transform Every Molecule of CO2 into Molecule of
CH4 Without Using Fossil Fuels
The methane is synthesized in each
cell of the biocatalyst. There are
trillions of cells working to produce
methane in the reactor.
The biocatalyst is a single-
celled microorganism that
belongs to the domain of
Archaea.
The cells are self-
replicating in the reactor,
as such, the system can
sustain itself.

Investment in Electrochaea
• Baker Hughes’ Expanding CCU Portfolio:
o Baker Hughes has announced several investments in CCU (carbon
capture utilization) over the last several months, including acquisition of 3C
and a technology license from SRI.
o These investments build on an existing portfolio of technologies, especially
chilled ammonia.
o These technologies will offer applications in a wide range of industries,
including CO2 from biomass, waste-to-energy plants, and fossil-fuel
combustion.
• Energy Industry – Core Capabilities:
o Power generation efficiency, uptime
o Compression performance
o Industrial controls, cybersecurity
• Baker Hughes’ investment strengthens Electrochaea’s position as a leading provider of Power-to-Methane
technology for carbon and energy storage.
• Baker Hughes and Electrochaea will jointly develop and commercialize an innovative integrated carbon capture
and utilization solution for specific applications utilizing both biogenic and industrial CO2 sources.

Value Creation with Synthetic Methane
Carbon tax, penalty avoidance (e.g., EU jurisdictions)
Delivery of gas for injection on grid, refueling transportation,
or on-site industrial consumption
Energy Storage
Storing renewable energy as RNG on the gas grid
overcomes inherent constraints on renewables,
delivering value to electric grid balancing
requirements
Carbon Attributes
Numerous incentive programs support investment
in the low carbon intensity (CI) delivery of RNG
Capex Avoidance
Utilities’ integrated resource plans (IRP) can be
achieved with lower capex; renewable utilization
rates are enhanced with mitigated curtailment
Sale of Gas
As a drop-in replacement for fossil gas, the
delivery, sale and consumption infrastructure is
ready for RNG Voluntary PPAs
Carbon certificates, trading and fuel-associated tax
incentives (e.g., CARB LCFS and US EPA)
RNG-enabled generation capacity for electric power (e.g.,
resource adequacy (RA) contracts)
Otherwise curtailed or exported renewables → stored for
delivery across hours, seasons, geographies
Long-term storage & charge/discharge cycles – not limited
to short cycle limitations of Li-ion batteries
Renewables utilization rates enhances asset values and
stimulates continued investment in renewables generation
Offsetting use of fossil gas and resulting GHG emissions
