  3. 3. ▪The world’s leading net food exporting region, plays in global food supply and global environmental sustainability and biodiversity. ▪The region’s management of the current pandemic and its aftermath will have planetary repercussions. The role of Latin America and the Caribbean
  4. 4. ▪ The pandemic has magnified structural gaps in inequality, limited fiscal space, low productivity, informality and fragmented social protection and health systems. Post pandemic But we are not there yet ▪ The region will need to expand support for long-term transformation of LAC food systems and redesign safety nets to address both the lingering impacts of the crisis and the vulnerabilities that underlie these impacts.
