Reduction in Transmission and distribution losses
National Smart Grid Mission (NSGM)

 Development of Microgrids, energy storage options, virtual power plants (VPP), solar
photovoltaic to grid (PV2G), and building to grid (B2G) technologies in order to manage
peak demand, optimally use installed capacity and eliminate load shedding and black-outs.
 Microgrids in 1000 villages/industrial parks/commercial hubs by 2017, 10,000
villages/industrial parks/commercial hubs by 2022, and 20,000 villages/industrial
parks/commercial hubs by 2027 which can island from the main grid during peak hours or
grid disturbances.
 Setting up of Renewable Energy Monitoring Centre's (REMCs) and Energy Storage
Systems to facilitate grid integration of renewable generation

National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP)
 Transportation in India is in the midst of significant change, driven by rising fuel costs,
rapid urbanization, environmental concerns, and development of new technologies in
developing transportation solutions.
 Highlights of government of India’s National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP)
2020
 Projected sales of 6-7 million units of new full range of electric vehicles.
 Government of India plans to invest INR 13,000 crores (US $ 2 billion) to
incentivize private players into the EV sector; and to help the government save in
fuel costs.
JNNSM Phase II
 JNNSM Phase II has laid emphasis on the areas where grid has not reached, or the
areas where grid has reached but the electricity is not available. JNNSM Phase II will
also focus on solar off grid generating systems, solar home lighting systems and
various other forms of solar based heating/cooling/thermal applications.
