This document summarizes several research papers on automated waste management systems. It begins by outlining some key issues with current waste collection practices, including the large amount of waste generated globally and lack of access to regular trash collection in many areas. It then summarizes 6 research papers on different automated waste segregation and monitoring systems that use technologies like sensors, microcontrollers, GPS, and IoT. It identifies some limitations or gaps in these systems, such as sensor accuracy issues, short wireless range, reliance on networks, and human intervention still required for segregation. Finally, it describes the overall design of the Automated Waste Segregator system presented in the paper, which aims to provide a more efficient solution to waste management.
