2. Photographer: Rankin
• John Rankin Waddell, working
name is Rankin he was born in
1966, an is an English portrait and
fashion photographer.
• When Rankin was 21 he decided to
stop studying accountancy and
begin photography
• The reason he stopped accountancy
was as he has decided his interests
lay elsewhere and he must act upon
it
• He was born and raised in
ST Albans, Hertfordshire
4. Choose an image…. Describe it
Here we see Ricky gervais a very funny
calm and relaxed sort of a man the way
in which Rankin has portrayed him is
basically the opposite, he has brought
out the raw aggression and really shines a
differently light on Ricky it conveys him to
be sporty and in shape and has given
him quite a rough look.
We see him here dressed as a boxer with
very realistic blood placed on his chest.
He has is hands up fists clenched as if he
is in a real fight.
5. Composition
Here ranking is stood head on with the
woman he is photographing with a very
close up and eye caching photo, he really
captures the woman's quite dark and
attractive pose he has chose to leave out
any background so the real focus is on her
his decision to only frame her in the photo
helps to convey more of her personality as
her almost wind swept hair and eyes fixed
straight on the camera really speaks to the
person viewing it her eyes will follow you
around the room giving you the same
thoughts on the image from any angle
6. Techniques used
Here rankin has used
effects/composition to really make
him stand out, its as almost as if he's
coming out of the picture also with
him looking directly at the camera
his eyes will follow you round the
room giving the picture I real
presence
7. Strengths & Weaknesses
I really like how ranking has used blank
backgrounds and very direct real life
catching shots he has took these
celebrities out f there comfort zone and
portrayed them how he wants and not as
society usually views them. Also you can
see with this image here how he doesn’t
just capture images he captures and
cultivates emotions really makes you feel
towards it. I really like rankings work and
personally have nothing bad to say
about it.

10. • Trees in the forest during autumn
• I really like how he catches the the
beautiful colours in which life
portrays
• Also the the vivid detail on the
closer trees really grabs your
attention and draws your right in to
the centre of the photo
• the picture almost seems endless
• His main strengths are how he really
enhances the first main trees

• Muench is the son of Josef Muench,
another landscape photographer
who worked for Arizona Highways
magazine for more than 50 years
• He is also a photographer that really
captured the beauty of America
• His work really does speak to you
and he has some really breath
taking images

13. • I love how beautiful this picture is
the symmetry the colours it is truly
amazing
• He has many images where he has
caught the reflection in the water
and always seems to play on it
• This is took in Nihonjin Gardens
• It shows 3 ancient towers and some
form of large glowing rock
• The strength in this photo is how he
captures the reflection in the water
and gives it a very symmetrical feel
