Michigan State University's (MSU) Center for Academic & Future Faculty Excellence (CAFFE) visited the College of Education's Institute for Research on Teaching and Learning (IRTL) to discuss resources for graduate students.

• Student, in partnership with dissertation
advisor, creates an Individual Development
Plan (IDP) and portfolio for use after degree
through parallel mentoring

CAFFE Basics
• CAFFE serves as a hub/repository, collecting
and advertising campus resources
• All materials are on-line
• No individual/personal assistance available

Individual Development Plan
• Begins with self assessment
• Tailored for each student, their place in their
program, and their long-term goals
• Annual review completed with advisor,
includes reflection, and parallels progress to
degree format
