Sustainability has fast become part and parcel of the global packaging industry, whether your product is web-processed plastic flexible packaging, paper-based corrugated containers or rigid metal cans and glass bottles. Packaging converters and their raw-material suppliers are being driven by demands from their direct CPG customers, retailers and consumers to find solutions.

Oui, il y a migration des huiles minérales vers les aliments; oui, il pourrait avoir un risque sur la santé humaine; oui, il existe des solutions, des plus radicales aux plus coûteuses. Mais il faut rappeler que nous ingurgitons quotidiennement de nombreux composés potentiellement toxiques, et il n’est pas démontré que les emballages doivent être davantage incriminés que d’autres sources de contamination. Si jamais le cadre réglementaire/législateur impose de nouvelles restrictions suite à des études toxicologiques poussées, des solutions sont envisageables, mais elles ont un prix. Un prix dont le consommateur devra s’acquitter. Pour le moment, il faut importer un peu de rationalité dans le débat pour couper court à tous les fantasmes et surtout au sensationnalisme journalistique. Il faut relativiser. Si l’on s’alimente de manière variée et équilibrée, le risque pour le consommateur est négligeable.

Le web 2.0 et les médias sociaux ont changé fondamentalement le comportement du consommmateur. Intéractivité, collaboration, instantanéité, mobilité, conversation, création de communautés, médiatisation des contenus, organisation d'évènements, rencontres, accès à de nouvelles sources d'informations, facilité d'utilisation, gratuité, accès à un large public sont autant de points positifs des médias sociaux. Les possibilités semblent sans limite, surtout si la stratégie consiste à combiner habilement les différents médias sociaux (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, Youtube, etc.). Il est clair que les acteurs de l’industrie agro-alimentaire et de l’emballage doivent s’adapter à ces nouveaux medias sociaux qui changent considérablement les façons d’interagir avec les clients et fournisseurs et plus généralement les manières de conduire leurs affaires. Vous voulez présenter un nouveau produit ou un nouveau service à vos clients et prospects, sans engager de dépenses ? Publiez les bonnes informations sur votre blog, faites-en l'annonce sur votre page Facebook et tweetez à vos « followers».

La nanotechnologie a le potentiel de révolutionner le secteur de l’emballage. Mais si elles représentent une opportunité considérable sur les plans économique et social, elles soulèvent cependant un certain nombre de questionnements d’ordre sanitaire, environnemental, éthique, politique et réglementaire. L'avenir des nanotechnologies dans l'emballage alimentaire semble conditionné par la collaboration étroite entre tous les acteurs de la chaîne pour que soient dissipés les inquiétudes et les risques ou que soient circonscrits ou éliminés certains problèmes provenant d’une utilisation non raisonnée des nanotechnologies. Les nanotechnologies peuvent jouer un rôle majeur dans l’industrie si sont prises en compte toutes les considérations de sécurité additionnelles tout en répondant aux besoins classiques auxquels répondent traditionnellement les emballages.

Les emballages actifs entrent en interaction avec l’aliment ou s’adaptent à son environnement pour préserver, le plus longtemps possible, et de façon optimale, ses qualités organoleptiques et nutritionnelles. Les possibilités offertes par les emballages actifs sont prometteuses. Certaines de ces applications sont déjà commercialisées, mais plusieurs d'entre elles en sont encore au stade du développement.

It combines memory safety and concurrency to create an independent, modular, and embeddable rendering engine that adheres to web standards. Stewardship of Servo moved from Mozilla Research to the Linux Foundation in 2020, where its mission remains unchanged. After some slow years, in 2023 there has been renewed activity on the project, with a roadmap now focused on improving the engine’s CSS 2 conformance, exploring Android support, and making Servo a practical embeddable rendering engine.
