3. ASSIGNMENT QUESTION
The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the National Association for
the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) affirm that high-quality, challenging, and
accessible mathematics education for 4 to 6 year-old children is a vital foundation for future
mathematics learning. In every early childhood setting, children should experience effective,
research-based curriculum and teaching practices.
(a) In this assignment, you are required to describe the TWO theories in learning of
Mathematics and the influence of both the theories in learning Math skills for
preschoolers.
(b) As a teacher responsible for teaching Mathematics to preschool children (4, 5 and 6
years old), it is important to ensure that the teaching carried out is interesting. By
using various sources, suggest TWO activities to teach Math skills (such as addition,
subtraction, multiplication, division, form, time, money, etc.) that match the ages of
preschool children. Explain clearly both the activities.
(c) Next, select an activity and implement it at preschool or kindergarten. Write your
reflection with emphasis on the reactions of the children. Also attach relevant pictures
as evidence.
To complete this assignment, you are advised to refer to the various referral sources (such as
text books, journals and documents on-line).

4. SOALAN TUGASAN
Majlis Kebangsaan Guru Matematik (NCTM) dan Persatuan Kebangsaan bagi Pendidikan
Kanak-Kanak Muda (NAEYC) mengesahkan kualiti yang tinggi, mencabar, dan akses kepada
pendidikan matematik kepada kanak-kanak yang berusia 4 hingga 6 tahun merupakan asas
penting bagi pembelajaran matematik pada masa depan. Dalam persekitaran awal setiap
kanak-kanak, kanak-kanak harus mempunyai peluang untuk mengalami kurikulum
berasaskan penyelidikan dan amlanan pengajaran yang efektif.
(a) Dalam tugasan ini, anda dikehendaki meghuraikan DUA teori dalam pembelajaran
matematik secara terperinci dan pengaruh kedua-dua teori tersebut dalam pembelajaran
kemahiran matematik bagi kanak-kanak prasekolah.
(b) Sebagai guru yang bertanggungjawab untuk mengajar matematik bagi kanak-kanak
prasekolah (4, 5 dan 6 tahun), adalah penting memastikan pengajaran yang dijalankan
menarik. Dengan menggunakan pelbagai sumber, cadangkan DUA aktiviti untuk
mengajar kemahiran matematik (seperti tambah, tolak, bahagi, darab, bentuk, masa,
wang dan lain-lain) yang sesuai dengan peringkat umur kanak-kanak prasekolah.
Kedua-dua aktiviti tersebut perlu dihuraikan dengan jelas.
(c) Seterusnya, pilih SATU aktiviti dan laksanakan aktiviti tersebut di prasekolah atau
tadika. Tulis refleksi anda dengan penekanan kepada tindak balas daripada kanak-
kanak. Juga sertakan gambar-gambar yang berkaitan sebagai bukti.
Untuk menyempurnakan tugasan ini, anda dinasihatkan merujuk kepada pelbagai sumber
