What kind of media institution might distribute your work and why?
Bauer Media Group UK
Bauer Media Group also has control of over 400 digital products and 50 radio and TV
stations around the world. Other magazines include Bella, Take a Break, that's life!
TVChoice, Total TVGuide. They distribute around the world, stores in the UK include
newsagents and WHSmiths.
The connection with UK shops is important as the success of the magazinecomes from
the sales within shops, if the wrong shops arechosen or of a major shop rejects the
magazine when sales and publications will fail. However popular distribution companies
such as Bauer allows acceptance of mass retailers.
Distribution is important as it presents your media productto the
public. Using the right distribution can get you the rightpublicity in
order for your magazine to sell.
My target audience would most likely want a physicalcopy of the
magazine however with links to websites, it is important to keep the
audience updated on social media. This creates a connection
between the audience and the publishers thus creating better
serviceto wanting to buy the magazine continuously. Although with
Bauer media, I have researched that they also sell online copies and
Audio copies (with a record of 17.6 million listeners to their
publishing: RAJAR. Therefore using this company to extend the ways
in which our magazine of distributed.
I choseBauer Media Group UK becauseof their extensive controlover magazines- 600
magazines- they controlpopular magazines across theUK such as Q Magazine and
Kerrang!. Thereforethis company to publish my magazine would not be a drastic
change within the publication systemas they feature an extensive range of genres. Why
should Indie-Pop be so different?
My magazinewould bring an extension to their music genre. By publishing a magazine
specifically for Indie-Pop 16-24 year olds this also means that their demographic can
rise. Bu adding a smaller section of the community can potentially make a huge
difference in the publication world.
