Telephony and how to get started doing them.

Specify the devices and
phone numbers I can use
for calls?
Click File → Preferences →
Telephony, Audio and
Video → Preferred
Numbers.
Pick the device or phone
number to use now for
calls?
Click the preferred device
icon, such as ,
in the toolbar at the top of
your contact list and
select the device or
telephone number you
want to use for calls.

Call people on my contact
list?
On your contact list, click
the name of the person or
group whose members
you want to call, or press
Ctrl while you click the
names of multiple people.
Then click the Call
Options icon in the
toolbar at the top of the
contact list; then click Call
selected contact.

Call someone who is not
on my contact list or in
my organization?
In the Type a name or
phone number field at the
top of the contact list,
type the entire telephone
number of the person you
want to call. Select the
number and click Call
Phone Number.
Invite someone to an
existing call?
In the Call window, click
Actions → Invite Others.
Route calls to other
devices and phone
numbers?
Click File → Preferences →
Telephony, Audio and
Video → Routing Calls.
Turn off all incoming call
notifications?
Click File → Preferences →
Notifications. For the
Event field, click Calls:
Telephony, Audio and
Video.
Store contacts’ phone
numbers?
Click the Call Options
icon in the toolbar at
the top of the contact list
and then click Sametime
Phonebook.
See a list of calls I made
and received?
Click the Call Options
icon in the toolbar at
the top of the contact list
and then click Call
History.
Turn off call notifications
when my availability
status is Do Not Disturb?
Click File → Preferences →
Notifications. For the
Event field, click Calls:
Telephony, Audio and
Video.
Adjust how long a device
rings?
Click File → Preferences →
Telephony, Audio and
Video → Preferred
Numbers.
Make a video call? Click the name of the
person on your contact
list with whom you want
to start a video call. Click
the Call Options icon
in the toolbar at the top of
the contact list and then
click Start Video Call .

Table 1. Tasks How do I... Action Specify the devices and phone numbers I can use for calls? Click File → Preferences → Telephony, Audio and Video → Preferred Numbers. Pick the device or phone number to use now for calls? Click the preferred device icon, such as , in the toolbar at the top of your contact list and select the device or telephone number you want to use for calls. Table 1. Tasks (continued) How do I...
