2. Biography
Quentin Tarantino is a director, although he
does do other roles in the industry like actor and
producer, from Knoxville Tennessee. He was
born on March 27, 1963 and he specializes in
non-linear neo-noir films.
His first big film was “Reservoir Dogs” and was
first shown at the Sundance Film Festival in
1992. it was a big success. The film was a mob
film and had an episodic story line making it
hard to understand the plot until the very end.
He has a very unique style and has lots of
reoccurring themes throughout his films. Like a
POV shot looking out of the trunk of a car and
unconventional story telling devices like non-linear
or chapter.
4. Unique Style
He always has something Dutch in his
films: The opening song to Reservoir
Dogs was written and performed by
Dutch people.
His films will often include one long,
unbroken take where a character is
followed around somewhere.
He often uses extreme graphic
violence which is almost comical.
5. Recurring Themes
His films often have lots of violence
and are also usually very gritty and
dark.
His plot lines often revolve around
crime usually in the form of one big
operation.
He likes to use strong female roles like
in: Jackie Brown and Kill Bill.
