Piedmont Public Schools held a new teacher orientation covering the curriculum overview. The orientation included setting SMART goals in each school to prepare students for college and careers through curriculum mapping, technology integration, collaboration afternoons, and professional development in literacy and mathematics. Key initiatives were ensuring SMART goals contain specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound elements, and dismissing students early several times during the year to allow teacher planning for Common Core Standards implementation.
