20
Analysis and Interpretation
It was researched that a large number of young women are pregnant, this the
teenage pregnancy rate to be on the increase. These young female are mainly
between the tender ages of 16 to 17 of age, this was reflected in figure 1.1
Table 1 and figure1.2 shows that a majority of these young women become
pregnant as a result of peer pressure. These young women also become victims
because of financial burdens faced by themselves and their parents to provide for
their necessary needs which forced them to find a different way out. Although
some of them are also in the situation because of curiosity, which have placed them
in a bad position.
Figure 1.1 shows that most pregnant females go pregnant at ages 16 to 18, while
for the males most of them become fathers at age 19. From the information that
was presented I was able to conclude that there have been a spike in the birth rate
and the percentage of females who got pregnant between 16 to 18 year.
Figure 1.2 shows that a significant proportionof teenagers became pregnant due to
peer pressure, while 25% was due to financial problems, 10% due to curiosity and
the remainder because of other reason. From the information that was presented
teens peers plays a significant role in decision making, that mostoften put them on
the wrong path.
70%of these young women often becomedepressed, feeling bad about what
happened to them. The parents of these young adults often respond to these
situations with extreme disappointment to the point where they the children are
forced to live elsewhere. Most time they are sent to live with the father to be often
times respond dealing with fear or negatively as well. The researcher was very
interested to see some of the parents dealing with the situation with leniency and
some level of understanding as some of the parents were victims of teenage
pregnancy in the past. This was also reflected in figure 3
Table 1 reflects that just under half (45%) of the fathers-to-be were terrified about
the situation. It was also stated that 30% of those boys were excited about
becoming fathers. During the early stage of pregnancy.
Figure 3 showed that half (50%) of these teenagers were disappointed with
themselves. Another 15% were excited for the early pregnancy. Figure 5 shows
21
that most of the victims of teenage pregnancy know about contraceptive methods.
However figure 4 shows at only a small percentage at the teenagers actually used a
contraceptive method during sexual intercourse.
Figure 6 show that 60% of the teenagers considered having an abortion while the
remainder did not consider it. From the information given most of the young
mother did not want to have a baby at their stage.
22
Statement of Findings
The survey has revealed a number of dificiencis with respectto teenage pregnancy
More than half (55%0 of these young girls became pregnant between the
become age of 14 and 17. Another 25% become pregnant between the age of
18 to19 years of age.
Half (50%) of the young girls became pregnant becauseof the intense
pressure from peer. The remaining percentage is a result or curiosity and
financial problems.
A large number (60%) of the young women stated that their parents were
very disappointed in them to the point they were thrown out of their houses
to live on their own. Another 25% said that their parents though
disappointed were lenient with them because they were victims themselves.
Under half (45%) of these young baby fathers were terrified of the
situation when they found out that they have impregnated a female. The rest
were excited to becomepicture father.
23
Recommendations and Implantation Strategies
Reducing the high level of teenage pregnancy is very important. Through a
lot of presentation itself to help lower this high rising problem.
The implementation of a joint teacher, parent and children program which
could be used to bond parents and teacher to the child. This may expond the
child’s trust in boththe teacher and parents which would allow them to
participate in the children’s day to day life.
The roles of the guidance councillors should be broadened especially in the
schoolsystem. Students should help to keep the children focussed on school.
A grated level of emphasis should be placed on educating these young adults
about the use of contraceptives. As revealed in the research the majority to
these young adults were knowledgeable and the use of contraceptive but
they still fell in the parenthood trap.
Implementation Strategy
The guidance counsellors can guide and council teenagers at school. By giving
these teens the right instruction and educate them about what would happen to
them and how it would affect them. This assistance in the schoolcan reach out to
most students and has been parent to help reduce teenage pregnancy.

  • 20. 20 Analysis and Interpretation It was researched that a large number of young women are pregnant, this the teenage pregnancy rate to be on the increase. These young female are mainly between the tender ages of 16 to 17 of age, this was reflected in figure 1.1 Table 1 and figure1.2 shows that a majority of these young women become pregnant as a result of peer pressure. These young women also become victims because of financial burdens faced by themselves and their parents to provide for their necessary needs which forced them to find a different way out. Although some of them are also in the situation because of curiosity, which have placed them in a bad position. Figure 1.1 shows that most pregnant females go pregnant at ages 16 to 18, while for the males most of them become fathers at age 19. From the information that was presented I was able to conclude that there have been a spike in the birth rate and the percentage of females who got pregnant between 16 to 18 year. Figure 1.2 shows that a significant proportionof teenagers became pregnant due to peer pressure, while 25% was due to financial problems, 10% due to curiosity and the remainder because of other reason. From the information that was presented teens peers plays a significant role in decision making, that mostoften put them on the wrong path. 70%of these young women often becomedepressed, feeling bad about what happened to them. The parents of these young adults often respond to these situations with extreme disappointment to the point where they the children are forced to live elsewhere. Most time they are sent to live with the father to be often times respond dealing with fear or negatively as well. The researcher was very interested to see some of the parents dealing with the situation with leniency and some level of understanding as some of the parents were victims of teenage pregnancy in the past. This was also reflected in figure 3 Table 1 reflects that just under half (45%) of the fathers-to-be were terrified about the situation. It was also stated that 30% of those boys were excited about becoming fathers. During the early stage of pregnancy. Figure 3 showed that half (50%) of these teenagers were disappointed with themselves. Another 15% were excited for the early pregnancy. Figure 5 shows
  • 21. 21 that most of the victims of teenage pregnancy know about contraceptive methods. However figure 4 shows at only a small percentage at the teenagers actually used a contraceptive method during sexual intercourse. Figure 6 show that 60% of the teenagers considered having an abortion while the remainder did not consider it. From the information given most of the young mother did not want to have a baby at their stage.
  • 22. 22 Statement of Findings The survey has revealed a number of dificiencis with respectto teenage pregnancy More than half (55%0 of these young girls became pregnant between the become age of 14 and 17. Another 25% become pregnant between the age of 18 to19 years of age. Half (50%) of the young girls became pregnant becauseof the intense pressure from peer. The remaining percentage is a result or curiosity and financial problems. A large number (60%) of the young women stated that their parents were very disappointed in them to the point they were thrown out of their houses to live on their own. Another 25% said that their parents though disappointed were lenient with them because they were victims themselves. Under half (45%) of these young baby fathers were terrified of the situation when they found out that they have impregnated a female. The rest were excited to becomepicture father.
  • 23. 23 Recommendations and Implantation Strategies Reducing the high level of teenage pregnancy is very important. Through a lot of presentation itself to help lower this high rising problem. The implementation of a joint teacher, parent and children program which could be used to bond parents and teacher to the child. This may expond the child’s trust in boththe teacher and parents which would allow them to participate in the children’s day to day life. The roles of the guidance councillors should be broadened especially in the schoolsystem. Students should help to keep the children focussed on school. A grated level of emphasis should be placed on educating these young adults about the use of contraceptives. As revealed in the research the majority to these young adults were knowledgeable and the use of contraceptive but they still fell in the parenthood trap. Implementation Strategy The guidance counsellors can guide and council teenagers at school. By giving these teens the right instruction and educate them about what would happen to them and how it would affect them. This assistance in the schoolcan reach out to most students and has been parent to help reduce teenage pregnancy.
