This is an informative story with Dora about the solar system, the universe, the sun and the inner and outer planets (characteristics).

Dora! I

4. One summer day, Kelly and Mandy went on a
adventure in the Solar System Land. As they stroll
along Orbit Boulevard, Kelly saw Mercury and
Venus hiding behind Earth. Kelly said “Look at
the two silly planets hiding behind the big, brave
Earth.” Mandy said “no Kelly, they are not silly,
they are only shy because they do not know us.
Lets go and introduce ourselves to them.”

5. Kelly laughed quietly to herself as she remembers
Mercury and Venus hiding behind Earth. She said
to herself “cowardly Mercury and Venus,
hiding behind the great, big Earth.”

6. Kelly ran quickly and stand in front of Earth and
said “Hello, I am Kelly and this is my big sister
Mandy.” Kelly laughed and pointed to the two
planets hiding behind Earth and said “Are you there
mother?” Earth smiled and said “No, they are my
friends. Their names are Mercury and Venus. We
are all apart of the solar system along with five
other planets. I will introduce you to the other
planets later.”

7. Kelly was intrigued by all the information as she
whisper quietly “can you tell us about the solar
system?”
Kelly turned to Earth and said “Can you
tell us about the solar system. Earth said “Sure,
lets have a seat in the Milky Way.” As they sit
down quickly, Earth said “the solar system consist
of the sun which is at the centre of it and the eight
planets and their moons that revolve around it.
With the addition of the meteor, asteroids, and
comets.” Mercury is the smallest planet and
Venus is the hottest planet. Venus is also know
as the evening star.

8. As Kelly and Mandy sit and listen to Earth
they heard a rough, loud and mighty voice
calling “Earth, Earth, where are you?”
Earth shouted “I am in the Milky Way,
Mars.” Mars came rushing into the Milky
Way and said “I have been looking
everywhere for you.” He paused as he
realized that Earth had company.

9. Mandy smiled to herself and said “Oh, this
is Mars. Hmmm, so mighty and strong.”

10. Mars turned towards Kelly and Mandy and
gave a quick smile and said “Hi, I am Mars.” I
am the fourth planet away from the sun and I
am also known as the red planet. Mandy smiled
and said “I can see that your not shy and quiet
like Mercury and Venus.” Mars snicker as he
said “those two are cowards, especially
Mercury, he is so tiny than the other planets.”

11. Earth laughed loudly as he said “Oh please Mars,
remember the time when Jupiter and Saturn made you
cry?” Mars murmur quietly “its because they are bigger
than me.” Earth laughed and said “Mandy and Kelly,
remember I was telling you about the solar system?
Jupiter is the largest planet and Saturn is the second
largest planet. Mars is also apart of the solar system.
Mercury, Venus, Mars and I are known as the
inner planets or the terrestrial planets.

12. Kelly hold on to Mandy’s hands tightly as she
thought “Gosh, Jupiter and Saturn are bullies.”

13. But before I tell you about the inner planets. Let me
tell you about the universe. The universe is
incredibly huge! It include the planets, the stars, the
galaxies, living things, dust cloud, light, even time
and the contents of the intergalactic space. The
universe is everything we can touch, feel, sense,
measure or detect.

14. Kelly looked in amazement as she said “Wow, the
universe is unbelievable. I always see meteors but I
called them shooting stars.” Earth chuckle and said
“that’s a funny name, shooting star, haha.” As
evening draws near, Earth rotates slowly as he said
“you will soon get a chance to meet the outer
planets. However, the inner planets are playful,
caring and friendlier than the outer planets.”

15. Kelly was intrigued by all the information as she
whisper quietly “can you tell us about the solar
system?”
Earth said “the inner planets are smaller
than the outer planets. The inner planet as greater
density while the outer planets as a lower density.
The inner planets are rocky while the outer
planets are gaseous and the inner planets spin
slowly while the outer planets spin quickly.”
“Those are some of the differences between the
inner planets and outer planets” said Earth.

16. Kelly and Mandy listened quietly as
they try to retain all that information.
Earth waited for a few minutes and said
“the inner and outer planets also have
some similarities. All planets revolve
around the sun. All planets orbit on the
same plane and all planets are spherical
in shape.

17. Mandy stutter as she said “Oh my, the outer
planets sound scary.” Earth grin and said
“do not worry about them, the sun is the
leader of the solar system and he will
protect you.” Kelly and Mandy breath a
sigh of relief as Earth said “the sun is a big
ball of gas comprises mostly of hydrogen
and ileum. It provide gravitational pull
for the other planets.”

18. The sun is the main source of energy for all the
planets, it provide heat and it sustain life on earth.
The sun is at the centre of the solar system an it
also help in the process of photosynthesis.

19. Mandy said “the sun sounds wonderful but what about you
Earth? I can bet that your pretty amazing too! Earth blush as
he said “Of course, I am! Not to toot my own horn but I am
magnificent! I am the third planet from the sun and I am the
most dense planet. I am also known as the blue planet and I
am the largest of the four inner planets. Furthermore, I am
the only planets that human beings can live on and have
liquid water at the surface. I have two major forces
which are gravity and magnetism.”

20. Suddenly four large planets jump from
behind the sun and scared the inner planets.
Earth shakes his head as he said “Kelly and
Mandy I will like you to meet Jupiter,
Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, the
troublemakers. They are also called the
outer planets.” The inner and outer planet
heard a squeaky sound and turn towards the
sound. It was Pluto flowing.

21. They all shouted “Poor Pluto, not a planet
anymore” and they left giggling. Earth pointed to
Pluto and said “that’s Pluto, he is now a dwarf
planet because he does not have certain
characteristics to make it a planet.”

22. “Wow, today was great” Mandy thought to
herself. It was great meeting the inner and
outer planets especially Uranus and Neptune.
Did you know that Neptune is the furthest
from the sun?

23. Anyway, it is getting late guys but it was lovely meeting
both of you said Earth. Kelly and Mandy smiled as they
walked away and left the Earth to orbit the sun.
