3. Outcomes
• Technology can be used to facilitate and
transform formative assessment
• Formative assessment can be accomplished
through multiple modalities
• Integrating technology does not have to result
in the production of student artifacts

Editor's Notes
Put google form in here-Then say something like...ok we need to be transparent about our facilitation, we just used a great form. assessment tool with you all to collect data-Google forms. We can either show google Forms to them at that time or we can show it later in the session. Might be good to pair with Infuse learning or other student response apps.

*Digital Literacy *Multiple Intelligences-Howard Gardner *Multi Literacies-The New London Group (1996) *The “new literacies”-(Lankshear & Knobel, 2003b; Street, 2003),*Multimodal discourse-(Kress, Jewitt, Ogborn, &Tsatsarelis, 2001) *Multimodal literacy ( Jewitt &Kress, 2003). Incorporating technology teaches the curricular skills-Reading and Writing methodologies but at the same time, kids get additional technology skills, the are creating and collaborating, and it meets many different literacies that might not get hit with the traditional readers and writers. Tech provides a wonderful opportunity to move student work up Bloom’s Taxonomy toward higher levels-especially creativity.

Always a lot of overlap with Do/Performance assessment. I have a good Explain Everything for this, they are doing a problem and explaining it, sort of hits both. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=WT_WWRBhaBE
stacy insert the video here
Tie back into the metacognition and students reflecting on learning.

I am happy to take this section-Focus on garageband a maybe a couple of iPad voice memo apps-I can speak to this for a few minutes plus the garageband podcasting in 5 clicks handout might be good. Voicethread as you mentioned is also a good one. Dragon dictation-I am not a fan-can explain in PDX. Voicethread maybe? This is used a lot in upper grades not as sure in lower grades. Dragon dictation etc. I don't have any student examples for this that I can access easily, but I could contact a few teachers etc.
Stacy - using voice thread for commentary on work etc.

Voice recording, editing docs, easy sharing to blog, great way to publish, edit, all in one.
Audio- Three different apps-all do different things/all do the same things - Audio Note Lite - Notability -Garageband Cut to wiki to play student example

Final Thoughts: pick one things, start slow, go easy.. Don't add a layer on-IF you are gonna integrate technology, substitute don't add on-Vignette about jet engine on top of locomotive? Integrating technology does not have to result in the production of student artifacts
