2. As you can see quite clearly from this screenshot that the camera lens has an extremely
low depth of focus which is very common in short films as it gives it more of a
professional look such as the filters on “instagram”.

3. This shot shows the creativeness that can come from short films as which is very
common. As you can see this has an interesting angle with the man in the suit looking at
the homeless man can be seen in the reflection of the mirror.

4. Another example of this short film using a convention of the genre is that it only has three
characters as it does not have time to introduce character back stories.

5. Although the films are creative basic camera angles like the one shown, over the shoulder
shot, have to be used so the audience feel comfortable with the normal styles of film and
television.

6. The greatest part of this short film and many others in the genre is the feel good factor of
the plot twist. In this the clothes are thrown out the window and the homeless man puts
them on.

7. The use of only two locations means that the low budget can be kept as short films do not
usually have a large budget such as they use there own cameras.

8. The use of a single camera technique is clearly obvious in this short film and the camera
angles do not change as much and you don’t get multiple angles of the same action. This
is due to the low budget of the film an the need to hire as little amount of people as
possible.

9. Symbolism is also used in short films to test if the audience member truly understands the
message of the story. In this short film the use of the shoes before and after in a mirrored
image much like the concept of “One man’s loss is another's gain”
