Terminology Recap! IDEOLOGY/IDEOLOGIES = the messages and values pushed at the audience through the films narrative. These are also called NARRATIVE THEMES. Genres and Ideology Genres tend to have typical ideologies as part of their ‘repertoire of elements’ (G.Burton 2000) their conventions e.g. the ideology of love conquering all in Romance films and crime doesn’t pay in the Gangster genre.
