SOURCE OF FUNDING
 The capital investment for Phases I and II was $2.7bn.
 30% of the total investment was funded by Government
of India (GoI) and Government of Delhi, while another
60% was financed through a loan from Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
 DMRC paid back $100m to JICA by August 2010.
BEST METHODS
 The first phase of Delhi Metro covering an area of 65 kms
system got completed in 2005, two years and nine months
ahead of schedule.
 Similarly, the second phase has also been completed not
only within the estimated cost but well within the
scheduled time period by adding another 125 kms in
2011.

FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS
 Increase in revenue by an amount of Rs.343
crore, increase of 36.5%.
 Average ridership increased 12.6 lakh to 16.6 lakh.

 JICA loan amount to Rs.68 crore and interest amounting
Rs.213 crore has been paid to government for onward
submission to JICA.
 Outstanding loan is around Rs.15480 crore.
FUN AT WORK
 Business today ranked DMRC as one of the best 25
companies to work for. (23)
 Manpower strength of DMRC comprises 6920 of
which 579 executives and 6341 non executives.
 Most of the employees are in the age group of 18 – 35
years.

 Monthly remuneration of employees varies from
Rs.6090 to Rs.125000.
 In addition to the above, Employees are entitled to 30%
HRA, 35% perks and DA as applicable.
 Delhi Metro launches crèche facility for staff where they

 DMRC’s training institute at Shastri park conferred ISO
certificate for design and delivery of training.
 Outstation trips for employees and families are been
organised.
 Free health check ups are arranged at different metro
offices and staff quarters.
 Open house sessions have been started at various metro
offices.

CUSTOMER IS KING
 DMRC focuses on the low cost travel between the points
with minimum fare Rs.8 and maximum Rs.30.
 The plan is made in such a way that there is a best
connectivity of other modes of transport from the metro
station.
 Feeder bus facility is also available.
 They promote themselves as a safest mode of transport in
the city. All stations are installed with seismic sensor
 Security to the people is given by Central Industrial
security force

 Other facilities like online recharge of smart card are
available.
 In order to reduce the congestion DMRC is planning to
increase the number of coaches from 4 to 6.
 Lost and found is the provision through which customer
can book their complaint and can recover it.
 Concession on fare are given through seasonal ticket.
 Awareness program are being conducted by them to alert
the public with safety measures.
 Community interaction program have organised to inform
public about the proposed phase-3 project and to sensitize
them.
BACK TO COMMUNITY
 By a research it showed that migrant workers at DMRC
are highly subject to risk for HIV.
 Based on this study, DMRC decided to initiate an HIV
and AIDS program and fund it entirely through its own
resources.
 A Children’s Home to accommodate 125 children, at Tis
Hazari having 5 dormitories, two classrooms, a
playground, an amphitheatre, a library and a mess has
been constructed by DMRC.
 A seperate policy is proposed for promotion of social
causes/activities at the Metro stations under DMRC’s
Corporate Social Responsibility.
 Reduction in Pollution, the first metro in the world to be
ISO 14001 certified for environmentally friendly
construction.
 Most of the Metro stations on the Blue Line conduct
rainwater harvesting as an environmental protection
measure.
 It is also the first railway project in the world to earn
carbon credits after being registered with the United
Nations under the Clean Development Mechanism and
has so far earned 400,000 carbon credits by saving energy
through the use of regenerative braking systems on its
trains.

SOURCE OF FUNDING  The capital investment for Phases I and II was $2.7bn.  30% of the total investment was funded by Government of India (GoI) and Government of Delhi, while another 60% was financed through a loan from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).  DMRC paid back $100m to JICA by August 2010.
  • 5. BEST METHODS  The first phase of Delhi Metro covering an area of 65 kms system got completed in 2005, two years and nine months ahead of schedule.  Similarly, the second phase has also been completed not only within the estimated cost but well within the scheduled time period by adding another 125 kms in 2011.

FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS  Increase in revenue by an amount of Rs.343 crore, increase of 36.5%.  Average ridership increased 12.6 lakh to 16.6 lakh.  JICA loan amount to Rs.68 crore and interest amounting Rs.213 crore has been paid to government for onward submission to JICA.  Outstanding loan is around Rs.15480 crore.
  • 9. FUN AT WORK  Business today ranked DMRC as one of the best 25 companies to work for. (23)  Manpower strength of DMRC comprises 6920 of which 579 executives and 6341 non executives.  Most of the employees are in the age group of 18 – 35 years.  Monthly remuneration of employees varies from Rs.6090 to Rs.125000.

HR INTIATIVES  DMRC’s training institute at Shastri park conferred ISO certificate for design and delivery of training.  Outstation trips for employees and families are been organised.  Free health check ups are arranged at different metro offices and staff quarters.  Open house sessions have been started at various metro offices.

CUSTOMER IS KING  DMRC focuses on the low cost travel between the points with minimum fare Rs.8 and maximum Rs.30.  The plan is made in such a way that there is a best connectivity of other modes of transport from the metro station.  Feeder bus facility is also available.  They promote themselves as a safest mode of transport in the city.   • 14.  Security to the people is given by Central Industrial security force  Other facilities like online recharge of smart card are available.  In order to reduce the congestion DMRC is planning to increase the number of coaches from 4 to 6.  Lost and found is the provision through which customer can book their complaint and can recover it.
  • 15.  Concession on fare are given through seasonal ticket.  Awareness program are being conducted by them to alert the public with safety measures.  Community interaction program have organised to inform public about the proposed phase-3 project and to sensitize them.
  • 16. BACK TO COMMUNITY  By a research it showed that migrant workers at DMRC are highly subject to risk for HIV.  Based on this study, DMRC decided to initiate an HIV and AIDS program and fund it entirely through its own resources.  A Children’s Home to accommodate 125 children, at Tis Hazari having 5 dormitories, two classrooms, a playground, an amphitheatre, a library and a mess has been constructed by DMRC.
  • 17.  A seperate policy is proposed for promotion of social causes/activities at the Metro stations under DMRC’s Corporate Social Responsibility.  Reduction in Pollution, the first metro in the world to be ISO 14001 certified for environmentally friendly construction.  Most of the Metro stations on the Blue Line conduct rainwater harvesting as an environmental protection measure.  It is also the first railway project in the world to earn carbon credits after being registered with the United Nations under the Clean Development Mechanism and has so far earned 400,000 carbon credits by saving energy through the use of regenerative braking systems on its trains.
