MEASUREMENT 1 (QSB 60104)
Assessment Brief
This is a report on a site visit to a construction site incorporating the objectives of the site visit, the introduction of the
site and technical observations made on site including the learning outcomes of the site visit.
Learning Outcomes
• Understand the basics of the construction process.
• Understand the practical aspect of construction techniques in comparison to the theory aspect in books and its
application on site.
• Exposure to actual working environment on site including uncertainty circumstances e.g. weather.
• Ability to communicate with the construction team members on site and to see the importance of teamwork in
the building team.
• Witness the usage of construction equipment on site including mechanical plants.
• Explore and identify various types of building materials and technology on site.
• Awareness of the importance of safety on site and understanding of safety problems and site conditions.
• Recognize the items measurable for sub-structure and reinforced concrete frame works.
2. CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY (BLD 60104)
Assignment Brief

and process of construction in accordance to the sequence of work on site. For this report, students are required to:
a) Identify and explain the type of foundation involved in the particular site together with its advantages and
disadvantages.
BUILDING MATERIALS (BLD 62003)
Assignment Brief
The site visit will give exposure to students on the real life construction on site in which students will be able to
explore, recognize and understand the building materials used for construction. For this report, students are required
to:
a) Different building elements may use different type of reinforced concrete grade. Identify the grade of
reinforced concrete used for the construction of the following building elements: (i) column, (ii) beam; (iii)
slab and (iv) foundation. Students need to explain on the advantages and disadvantages of the identified
reinforced concrete.
Assessment Criteria (10 marks for each module)
Breakdown of marks are:
Objective of the site visit = 1 mark
Content/technical observations = 6 marks
Photos & descriptions = 2 mark
Learning outcomes/ Conclusion= 1 mark
