Hello class, today we will be going over a power point presentation on visuals that we will use in our
class. I will show you how to use things like posters, graphs, and pictures that will help you better
understand what I am trying to teach to you. I know when I am talking it can get quite boring, but I
believe this will help make your health and physical fitness learning experience come alive and be more
enjoyable for you. So let’s go ahead and get started.
The first slide is a graph, we can use graph’s for many things. I would like to get your input on these as
well. I have a few things in mind. The first is after having you all run the mile we can total up the boys
scores and the girls then compare them. This is just an idea I had, or to make it a little more fair I am
thinking about creating groups of boys and girls combined and make a competition out of physical
fitness. This is something we can brainstorm, and come up with so we can make this class the most
enjoyable physical fitness or gym class you’ve ever had.
The next slide should look familiar to you all, but one thing. This poster is not the My pyramid that you
all are familiar with. This is a pyramid of activities that you all can use to help you better understand
what you can do to become more physically fit. This will be available for you all to use all year. The third
slide is the My Pyramid that you all should be familiar with, but if you are not it will also be available. To
give you a brief overview of it, it is the chart that tells you how much of what food groups you should be
eating in a day.
The fourth slide is a BMI or Body Mass Index chart. This is a chart that takes your body weight compared
with your height and gives what your current BMI is. The chart also tells you what a healthy BMI is for
you. We will take your height and weight and let you know what your current BMI is, and throughout
the year we will work to get you towards a healthy BMI. I ask that you don’t let this chart intimidate you,
as I know it can.
The last slide is of a few pictures that I will have posted for you all to use. These pictures show you how
to stretch properly, and perform certain physical activities that we will throughout this year. I have
chosen to do this for many reasons. The first being that physical fitness is extremely important, but
doing it the wrong way can be just as harmful to your body as not being physically active. Doing things
like stretching the wrong way can actually put more stress on the muscles you are trying to stretch out,
so going through and looking at these pictures you should have a better understanding of how to
stretch. You can do things like hurt your shoulder or knees if you are putting too much stress on them
when stretching. I stress that if you have any questions on what you are doing, and if you are doing
something right or wrong you ask me or refer to the pictures I will have for you.

will have other visuals available for you, but this was just a brief overview of things. I hope you are as
excited for this year as I am.
