Cabinet Magazine is a dance music magazine that refuses to specialize in any one genre, instead focusing on music that is considered "good" for its target 16-24 year old demographic. By adapting to current genres and having a strong online presence, Cabinet aims to keep its readership engaged as long as dance music remains popular. Currently, Mixmag and DJ Mag are market leaders in print dance music magazines, while some online magazines also focus broadly on dance music or popular music trends like Cabinet.

The product I have created is ‘Cabinet Magazine’. ‘Cabinet’ is a dance
music magazine that refuses to specialize in one particular genre,
instead going with whatever is ‘good’ at the time. So the general
movement of the magazine stays fresh to the specific age bracket it
is aimed at 16-24. By adapting the genre to the time, combined with
a large online presence it means the readership can be extended
continuously as long as dance music continues.
Currently on the market in the print based media are market leaders
‘Mixmag’ and ‘DJ Mag’. There are a number of online based
magazines who specialize in the whole dance genre, and also
‘Clash’, which specializes in popular music in an evolutionary sense
like ‘Cabinet’. ‘Mixmag’ and ‘DJ’ also have large sections reviewing
music and mixing software/hardware too.
