Project 3:
Pitch, Compose, and File for Publication (20%)
In this project, you will pitch two ideas and compose two deliverables to be filed with
editors for possible publication in a real online magazine or website. For each
deliverable, you will decide which online magazine or website you’ll pitch to.
The first deliverable will be a set of step-by-step slidecast instructions to help viewers
perform a specific task. A slidecast is a slideshow with voice-over narration. The course
assumes students do not have experience in creating a slidecast, and provides options
for how to create one using familiar tools or one of the free easy-to-use cloud
computing tools. The second deliverable will be a review. You may choose to review a
local (Moscow or Coeur d’Alene) business, event, or area (e.g., a hiking trail or local
attraction).
Learning Objectives. After completing this project, you should be able to:
pitch ideas to editors to obtain approval to compose and file for publication,
compose step-by-step slidecast instructions for anything you know how to do, and
provide the voice-over narrative using an effective presentation speaking style,
compose an objective review of a local (Moscow or Coeur d’Alene) business, event,
or area that you have first-hand knowledge about.
