2. Two qualification systems
Mediation Institute graduates are assessed under two qualification
systems:
1. VET System which is competency based (Cert IV and Vocational
Graduate Diploma Courses)
• If you can consistently demonstrate competence you are assessed as
competent.
• It doesn’t matter how that competence has been developed
2. Industry Standard published by the Mediators Standard Board
◦ Set time based requirements regarding skills development practice and
assessment
◦ The skills required are equivalent to 6 of the 15 units from the Certificate
IV in Mediation qualification
3. Mediation Institute Graduates
are awarded two qualifications

7. What you have to decide
Do I want to select the Workshop or Online only option?
Workshop Option - you may benefit from participating in online role
plays but it is not mandatory.
Online option – for National Accreditation in addition to your vocational
qualification you must participate in a minimum of 9 practice
mediations and comply with the final assessment requirements.
