Notes:
1. Immigration process foresees consultants entering and working in Angola:
➢ Short-term assignments on the land only: on OV (30 days, with a right of extending twice without leaving Angola).
➢ Long-term assignments: on STV or OV and once expatriate consultants have arrived to Angola, Von Essen’ Local
Partner will convert their STV or OV to MEWV.
2. It is required that the copies of MEWV documents (1 to 10) are sent to Von Essen’ Local Partner at the same time as STV
or OV documents, i.e. before consultants travel to Angola. MEWV documents have to be translated into Portuguese and
legalised - it will be arranged by Von Essen’ Local Partner in Angola at additional costs (translation costs are USD 20.00 per
page whereas notarization is charged at USD 45.00 per page).
3. If a previous WV was issued, it has to be cancelled by the previous Angolan employer to the Directorate for Immigration
and Customs (DEFA) in Angola (a letter to be attached to the WV application to prove it).
4. It might be very difficult to obtain STV for Indian nationals and other Asian nationalities; in this case Von Essen’s Local
Partner could try to obtain an Ordinary Visa (OV) for them at the same costs as for STV, but the timescales are much longer
(within 30 working days following submission of OV application to an embassy of Angola in a home country / a country
of residence).

Contract g • Von Essen’s local partner must hold a detailed contract incl. billing requirements with the Angolan end
Structure client to be able to sponsor the visas for the expatriate consultants. The agency would hold a separate
side contract with Von Essen for their margin. Consultants will hold a direct employment contract with the
Von Essen’s local partner, who in turn holds a service contract with Von Essen.

Taxation g • Taxes are levied in Angola on employment income at the progressive rates up to 17%.
• The employee and employer both contribute accordingly 3% and 8% of the gross salary to
the social security
Note: General rule is that the expatriates shall contribute to the Angolan social security system; however,
they may be excluded if remain covered by / continue contributing to an equivalent program in a home
country / a country of residence.
Banking and g • Local bank account is required to facilitate the relationship with the tax authorities - Von Essen’s local
other local partner can help to open it. Access to Swiss private banking is also available to our consultants
services where appropriate.

additional fee + actual costs, including meet and greet, accommodation, car hire, mobile phone,
