4. Legislation in Sport
Health and safety has become one of the
most important things when delivering
sport to anyone. Within this “sue culture”
that we live in these days all sports
coaches/teachers and volunteers must be
very careful that they have the right
insurance and procedure in place so that
they are covered if accidents occur.
5. Assignment 1 – P1/P2/M1
Task – create a poster that describes the
following four health and safety acts in sport,
stating how they impact on health and safety
(P1):
Health and safety at work act (1974)
Activity Centre Act (1995)
Children's Act (1995)
Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sport Act
(1987) aka Safety at Sports Ground Act (1987)
6. To complete the task:
You must research the acts in detail using
books, internet, journals and any other ways of
finding out this information.
You must then filter the information and state
how these acts impact health and safety in sport.
To gain the higher grades your must compare
and contrast the influences of legislation, legal
factors and regulatory bodies on health and
safety in sport. Why have certain acts made it
safer for children to take part in sport? (M1)
