Brief description of the training need analysis that can be used for airlines. The starting point is the performance analysis where the problems and opportunities are identified.
4. Background
• A systematic needs analysis has never been carried out for
this airline.
• In light of the current situation, the need is more critical
• This need has repeatedly been highlighted on various
occasions including
– EOS
– BAC/Internal Audit Report
– User’s Engagement Meeting
– Group HR Planning
– Training Academy BSC
• Airline’s Academy had seek IATA for their service to do
TNA.
• IATA had propose to conduct a 10day project for a fee of
RM100,000 excluding travel and other logistic.
5. Issues
• Inadequate training plans and program
formulation.
• Inconsistent way of determining training
and development plan.
• Limited service offering
• Inexperience staff.
• Nil ROI

8. TNA Options
• Organisation/systemwide
– Costly, long duration to complete and see the result, high
risk, resource constrain, low involvement
• Division
– Less costly, manageable, covers sufficient scope, closely
related to the Business Turnaround Plan
• Functional/Dept
– Minimal cost, less impact, low risk, high opportunity to
learn, high involvement
9. Way forward
• In view of the facts presented, the Academy would
recommend the following:
– Engage IATA to review our requirement and
propose a plan.
– Start the need analysis with one division as the
pilot for this year.
– Prioritize the departments within the
Commercial Division. * (with IATA resource)
– Rollout and implement to the whole Division.( our
own resource)
