7- Tourist Attractions Portuguese Monuments
The Belém Tower The Belém Tower is located in the River Tagus in Lisbon. It is an architectural monument of the XVI century which stands for nationalism and is all surrounded by decorations of the Coat of arms of Portugal. Over the centuries it was used as a kind of beacon and also as a dungeon for political prisoners during the reign of Filipe II of Spain and, later, by D. João IV of Portugal. The monument has undergone several renovations over the centuries, especially in the eighteenth century. The Tower of Belém was classified as one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. 7- Tourist Attractions
The Jerónimos Monastery The Jerónimos Monastery is located in Belém, Lisbon, near the River Tagus. It is the highest point of Manueline architecture and the most notable sixteenth century monastery in Portugal, and one of the most important in Europe. It includes the decorative elements of the symbolism of art, navigation and sculptures of exotic plants and animals. It was built by D. Manuel I of Portugal, soon after Vasco da Gama’s arrival from India. The monument was classified as one of the seven wonders of Portugal. 7- Tourist Attractions
Clérigos Tower Clérigos  Tower is located in Porto. This bell tower is part of the church with the same name. Its architect was Nasoni. It was started in 1754, and is inspired by the Baroque. It has six floors and 75 meters high, which can be risen by a spiral staircase with 225 steps. It was, at the time of its construction, the tallest building in Portugal. The materials used in building the Clérigos Tower were mainly granite and marble. 7- Tourist Attractions
The Mafra’s Convent The Mafra’s convent is located in the municipality of Mafra, district of Lisbon. It consists of a palace and a Baroque monumental monastery. It was started in 1717 by the initiative of João V of Portugal, because of a promise that the young king made to the Queen Maria Anna of Austria if she gave him a son. This monument was classified as a National Monument in 1910. 7- Tourist Attractions
The Pena National Palace The Pena National Palace, also known simply as the Pena Palace, is located in the historic town of Sintra and represents the architectural romanticism of the nineteenth century in the world. It was built by King Ferdinand in 1838. On 7 July 2007, it was elected as one of the seven wonders of Portugal, and also the first romantic palace in Europe. 7- Tourist Attractions
The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus de Braga  is a religious and tourist site located in Braga, Portugal. The Bom Jesus has a large church, and a staircase through which there is Via Sacra of Bom Jesus. There is also a forest, some hotels and a centenary hydraulic lift. Its work began in 1784 and was concluded in 1811. It is one of the first neoclassical buildings in Portugal. 7- Tourist Attractions
“ The Temple of Diana” The Roman Temple of Diana is located in the city of Évora and it is part of the historical centre of this city. It was classified as World Patrimony by the UNESCO. It is one of the most famous icons of this city and a symbol of the Roman presence in the peninsula. 7- Tourist Attractions
Batalha Monastery The Batalha Monastery is located in Batalha, Portugal, and was built by King D. João I to thank the Virgin for the victory in Aljubarrota. This Dominican monument took two centuries to be finished (1388-1517). It is an example of Gothic architecture (Manueline style). It is considered  world patrimony by UNESCO and it was also chosen for the seven Portuguese wonders. 7- Tourist Attractions
Saint  George’s Castle St. George's Castle is located in  Lisbon,Portugal. Originally it was known simply as the Moorish Castle. It stands in a dominant position on the highest hill of the historic center, offering visitors a spectacular view over the city and the Tagus estuary. 7- Tourist Attractions
