2. The beginning

• Soon after he become a committed member of
the separatist church
• He was associated with Plymouth colony and
was elected governor about 30 times
3. Separation
• Bradford felt the Church of England was way
past redemption and turning around because
of false doctrines and miss-teachings
• Soon after James 1 began to prosecute
separatist’s Bradford fled to the Netherlands
for safe keeping
4. Leaving Europe
• Before the colony in America was established
Bradford wife Dorothy died death is unknown
but some say she died of Cotton Mather
drowning
• Winter in new colony caused many to parish
and the leader John carver perished and
Bradford took over as the new colony leader
• Bradford remarried to Alice Carpenter while
he was governor in summer of 1623
