Study Tips for College Students

 1. 1. Study Tips for College Students
2. 2. Create Mnemonics
Mnemonics are devices that can help you memorize formulas, key concepts, definitions, etc.
“Please excuse my dear aunt Sally,” which really stands for: parenthesis, exponents, multiply, divide, add, subtract, for any subjects pertaining to mathematics.
3. 3. Use your Notes
Notes can be very beneficial since you put them in your own words.
Make a study guide for yourself.
Re-write them until you understand the material.
4. 4. Make Flashcards
Flashcards are the easiest way to study & learn.
Use them for definitions, concepts, or vocabulary.
Keep them on you throughout the school day, review whenever you get a chance.
5. 5. Quiz Yourself
Create a mock quiz for yourself to complete, based on the material you are studying.
Review key areas you are struggling with until you get the correct answer.
(This is an excellent study strategy for an actual exam).
6. 6. Take a Break
Always remember to take short breaks so your brain can retain information.
Don’t overwhelm yourself! Taking some time to chill is good when you study.
Come back to the material after a while, and start from the beginning.
7. 7. Don’t Get Ahead of Yourself
Keep everything in order throughout your college career. Don’t get too far ahead, seeing as though it’s stressful to begin with.
Keep your studies in line and don’t fall behind.
Be sure you do your work, but make time for friends and other social events. It will alleviate your stress, and it’ll give you the break you need to keep going.
