3. Where did production take place?
The cinematographer for Dredd was Anthony Dod Mantle
Who has worked on many different movies over the years such as 127 hours,
slum dog millionaire and 28 Days Later.
Production took place in South Africa as it was the most practical location to shoot at and
became the most practical and cost effective shooting location we started basing our Mega City
One concepts.

A total of 650 shots were taken to creator this feature film. With over 300 of
them being visual effect shots. Most these shots were to create the CG builds.
The slow-mo look was created by separating the colours and objects then
intensifying the directions with hue and saturation. With added sparkles and
heightened stereo the creators had made their drug look.
Alex Garland kept in contact with John Wagner the creator of Judge Dredd. This
is so he knew that they were taking the right direction with the film. John had
input on all conceptuals that were made for the film.
The creators had to add visual effects for the blood and gore. To achieve this
they fired a blood bags t get a feel for the shock ad impact that the bullet had on
prosthetic skin.
