In contrast to the carnal minded, we are commanded as Christians be be spiritually minded. This lesson describes what a spiritual mind is, gives us examples of spiritual mindedness and challenges us to think more spiritually.

1. To understand the mind of God better.
2. What is a spiritual mind and how does it

3. To give examples of spiritually minded
people.
4. Challenge us to think more spiritually.
3. GOD Proclaimed
• Exodus 34:6-7 Then the Lord passed by in front of
him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God,
compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and
abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who keeps
lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity,
transgression and sin;
• yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished,
visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on
the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”
4. The DNA of humanity
• Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let US make man in our image,
after our likeness…..
• The Godhead consist of three and so does humanity! (2 Cor.
13:14, Matt. 28:19)
• 1 Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself
sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and
body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
• Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper
than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of
spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and
intentions of the heart.
5. What is a spiritual mind?
• A spiritual mind, is one that is:
1. set on learning the will of God through study,
2. doing the will of God
3. and teaching the will of GOD.
• Ezra 7:10 For Ezra had set his heart to study the
Law of the Lord, and to do it and to teach his
statutes and rules in Israel.

• The spiritual mind is always seeking to please the Father
through being a servant!
• Matthew 20:26-28 It shall not be so among you. But whoever
would be great among you must be your servant, and
whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even
as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to
give His life as a ransom for many.”

7. Spiritual Mind
• Isaiah 6:1-11 …turn with me please….
• A spiritual mind sees God high and lifted up! Though He is high
and lifted up, He is not far each one of us (Acts 17:27)! His hem
reaches down from heaven to earth!
• Isaiah 57:15 For thus says the high and exalted One, Who lives
forever, whose name is Holy, “I dwell on a high and holy place,
And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive
the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite.
• A spiritual mind is eager to do the will of God! Here am I, send
me (Isaiah 6:8)!

• A spiritual mind understands sacrifice
• Samuel 24:24 this, O king, Araunah gives to the king.” And
Araunah said to the king, “May the Lord your God accept you.”
24 But the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will buy it from you
for a price. I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my
God that cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing
floor and the oxen for fifty shekels[a] of silver.
• 25 And David built there an altar to the Lord and offered
burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord responded
to the plea for the land, and the plague was averted from
Israel.

also in Christ Jesus:
• Ask what would Jesus do,
what did Jesus do?

10. Challenge
• To spend more time thinking about God and His love
for humanity (1 John 4:16).
• To spend more time thinking about God and His wrath
for those who do not obey (2 Thessalonians 1:5-8)
• To look at the time spent on secular things vs. spiritual
things (Matthew 6:21) and see if their is a clear winner.
• To spend more time reading the word of God (Eph.
3:1-5)
• To be a doer of spiritual things (James 1:22-23)
