2. ABSTRACT
This paper presents implementation of simple system for remote diagnostic of
vehicle defects. Implementation process includes diagnostic trouble codes defined in
existing standards . Presented application is client/server application and the paper
presents functionality and algorithms. The communication link between the client
and server is established using mobile phone.
3. INTRODUCTION
In this electronic age the use of microprocessor and sensor in automobile have
become vital .ECU which controls several sensor also has issues .The issues are non
operational and malfunctioning of sensor due to irregular service and operation of
vehicle . In the smart car these errors in the sensor are received as error codes to the
user thus preventing short term and long term damage of the vehicle.
4. EXPERIMENTAL
GSM-Global System for Mobile operates by sending signal to the prescribed dial
number . It is connected to the ECU (Engine Control Unit) of the vehicle through
the CAN network . The sensor operations are monitored by the microcontroller ,
programmed accordingly to send signal . The signal is send to the gsm board while
an error is deducted which inturn will send the text message with the error to the
user.

8. CONCLUSION
Using programming and modern day electronic device the vehicle is turned
smart enough to rectify its errors and enable hassle free Operation to the user.
This reduce the workload of technician and also save money caused by the
service centre.
