  5. 5. You ? Or your Stars? • Confidence- avoid negative self talk, treat negative people as pests, avoid them – If you want to change the kind of manager, officer, wife, husband you are, change the kind of person you are, – You are what you say and do. The body follows the mind. Be the kind of person you want to be, a success. – Train carefully. Train regularly. Train hard. Be in the real success situation, see yourself there
  6. 6. Learn to Distinguish between Problems and Facts • Problem solving and Managing time- when is the best time? • Do it now. Do it right. • A problem, a challenge can be fixed. • If you are dealing with a circumstance that cannot be changed or fixed, then it’s no longer a problem: it’s a fact. – Because it’s a fact, there’s no reason to waste emotional energy feeling frustrated. Let it go. • Save time and energy for problems you can do something about. So there is time to let go and re focus!
  7. 7. Discipline and commitment • Nearly everyone, every officer, man , woman “work very hard” for their success. – Success is not a matter of luck. – Discipline is remember what you want. – The only discipline that lasts is self-discipline. – Be consistent in the purpose
  8. 8. Any hurdles? • Embrace adversity as something positive • All great triumphs are preceded by some kind of crisis. • Without crisis leaders never get the chance to prove themselves and the time to be alert and vigilant is when everything is going well. • Be fearless in seizing opportunities – as Nike says ‘Just do it’
  9. 9. Any hurdles? • Turn challenges into positives. “Success is never giving up • Motivation and energy are worth 3 times your physical resources. – facing reality checks. Confront them knowing that accepting and overcoming these challenges will help make you the person you ought to be! – If you hit a rough spot, keep going. – Even when you feel discouraged, do the assignments anyway. – Champions keep playing until they get it right. – But don’t choke, breathe, exhale, relax
  10. 10. Develop Mental Toughness and Maintain Focus • Stress and setbacks are part of everyone’s life. • You have to be tough. • Everything depends on your mental outlook towards life. • 98% of success is in your head.
  11. 11. Use Visualization • Imagine yourself doing something successful before you actually begin it. – It’s like a move you run in your head. A positive dream! – “If I can conceive it, I can believe it. If I can believe it, I can achieve it.” Jessie Jackson – Imitate a champion. Pattern yourself after someone who is outstanding. – Learn from others, but improve yourself. – Just because someone wins the race, don’t assume it was easy for them.
  12. 12. Have High Expectations for Yourself • You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them. • Keep in mind that it is what you expect of yourself that matters, not what others expect – Set your achievement goals , and know what you are able and willing to do to achieve success.. – Monitor your progress continually
  13. 13.
