Progetti NEWurbanFACE Molte sono le definizioni attribuite a NEWur-
banFACE: “opera/evento permanente”, “sa-
lotto urbano”, “manifesto metropolitano”, a
testimonianza della difficile classificazione di
un intervento architettonico che sconfina dai
canonici processi progettuali per appropriarsi 4
di metodologie di marketing e comunicazione.
L’idea di Simone Micheli, supportato dalla vo-
lontà politica di Antonio Oliviero (Assessore al
Turismo, Moda e Affari Generali della Provincia
di Milano) e da Massimiliano Orsatti (Assessore
al Turismo, Marketing Territoriale, Identità del
Comune di Milano), è quella di non disperdere
i grandi contributi culturali ed imprenditoriali
portati a Milano dal mondo dell’industria du-
rante il Salone del Mobile ma di capitalizzarli
in un’opera a servizio della città. L’operazione
consiste, pertanto, nel trasformare un evento
effimero del FuoriSalone in un “evento urbano
permanente”, allestendo, con il contributo di

importanti sponsor, uno spazio emozionale e
promozionale che rimanga a disposizione della
città e dei suoi cittadini. NEWurbanFACE, è un
progetto di comunicazione della città e del ter-
ritorio attraverso una vetrina mediatica dalla
peculiare qualità architettonica. Nasce durante
la settimana del design di aprile 2008 come no-
do di convergenza dei contenuti culturali del-
le università e delle scuole milanesi connesse
al mondo della creazione, per poi diventare
un’appendice dello IAT l’Ufficio di Informazio-
ne e Accoglienza Turistica di Milano.
Uno spazio che consentirà ai vari soggetti che
lavorano sul turismo in Italia di mostrare le lo-
ro eccellenze avvalendosi di una vetrina di rara
