2. Types of legal graffiti art
• Paper cup graffiti – paper cup art is a drawing on
a cup. It’s good because you can recycle the cups
• Masking tape art – its easy to come off and its not
damaging the walls etc.
• Legal graffiti wall – a legal wall is when you have
permission from the owner to do graffiti on it
• Rangoli graffiti – this is a powder art its good
because its not permeant so it wont ruin
anything.
3. What is the law
• Graffiti is a from of criminal damage and the
law states that if you are caught doing graffiti
you will be fined up to ₤5,000 but if the
damage costs more than ₤5,000 the crown
court will decide the sentence (most likely to
pay the fine and community service).
4. Types of illegal graffiti
• Tagging – tag is the artists name in graffiti, its like a
signature but for graffiti. Artist normally write it next to
there art piece. Its illegal because its criminal damage.
• Throw-up is a bigger version of tagging but its normally
in bubble writing and with more that one colour. This is
illegal because it has not been given permission to do
so (criminal damage)
• Stencil – is a art where you cut out stencils from paper,
cardboard etc. to make a image so you can spray paint
over it. This a more neater way to do graffiti because
its not freehand. Its illegal because it ruins the property
(building, wall).
