3. ASH, AWR,ADDM and the EM12c
• EM12c integrates ASH, (Active Session History)
for the first time into an “Top Activity” type
interface.
• AWR snapshots utilized, using point in time
metrics the DBA can examine for the windows
in time demanded.
• Real Time ADDM is used for new features,
allowing the DBA to work more closely with this
“Just the facts” reporting tool.
• More arsenal for the DBA’s weapons against
poor performance!

4. ASH Analytics
• ASH Analytics is available to install
dynamically as a feature of the EM 12c to any
11g database.
• T he diagnostic pack licensing is required for this
feature, just like for AWR and AD D M
reporting.

5. Similar Interface
• ASH , (Active Session H istory) has been
available to assist the D BA since 10g.
• Allows the D BA to view information
across multiple performance dimensions.
• By Filtering, allows the D BA to view
performance patterns and resource usage
that wasn’t clearly displayed in the past.

11. Role of the DBA
• Technical specialist in all that is,
corresponds and impacts the database.
• We fill so many other roles, but our
primary role is to support our customers-
management, users, clients and
developers.
11
12. How the DBA Views Wait Events
• By looking at this wait event table, does the
customer understand the issue?
• If you include this in a report, does it offer value
to your customer?

20. Why Load Map
• Secondary way to break down wait
events.
• Easier for Non-DBA’s to understand
impact of wait events.
• Great visual and reporting tool to
clients.
• Clear, undeniable view of impact of
database, waits, processes and
advanced processing.
20
22. Filtering with Load Maps
• Choose Simple or Advanced Filtering
Options.
• Breakdown the filtering in the order
that is pertinent to the question about
performance for the snapshot you’re
narrowed to.
• Drilldown from any point in the
loadmap to the process, wait event
or resource usage.
22
26. Real –Time ADDM and
Comparisons
Introduced in EM12c, the ADDM comparison report
allows a DBA to compare a created snapshot in
time to a second snapshot.
• Time is not fixed, can be a different total of
minutes, different days, compare anything in
retained in the repository against one another.
• The report notifies you of multiple impacting
indicators, including percentage of
compatibility of the comparisons and drilldown
areas for both panes.
26
29. Summary
• ASH Analytics is the future of the “Top
Activity” View in the Enterprise
Manager.
• The benefits are clear in regards to
viewing, trouble-shooting and defining
performance metrics, resource usage
and issues.
• The future holds many advanced
performance metrics and features to be
integrated into this new interface.
