A person must complete years of schooling and pass a licensing exam. A person
interested in this profession needs to have strong skills in mathematics and science.
Veterinarians are concerned with the health and well-being of animals. They perform checkups,
diagnose illnesses and prescribe treatments. You have to have a bachelor's degree prior to
attending veterinary school.
Veterinarians are required to complete a 4-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).

Vets in their first year of practice can expect to earn a salary of approximately
$60,000.Small animal exclusive vets started out with the highest average earnings of $64,744.
