  3. 3. Do we have to learn / speak English? • Ahm, are you asking this question, seriously? • It’s not why / when stage, but “how” • Anyone who graduated junior high school (all of us) already knows enough words / sentence to speak English. • OK, let me step back, don’t worry about English. let’s speak “A-Go” (Japanese English) first.
  4. 4. localization? • Localization for “who”? • As subsidiary of global company, generally 10% around from Japan • Korea is 2%, but generally developer accept English. Then, 2% is even better. • Remember, please contribute to world. Not just consume others.
  5. 5. I am hiring… • It is really hard to hire great person from this market • “business English” can be booster for your career • Don’t use “A-go” will be blocker for your career • Companies cannot investment more on just 10% market. They all go global, and it is inevitable.
  6. 6. But “AI“ things can hear / speak English instead… • Well, it is true. But you should learn English. • Even they can speak fluently, they cannot understand cultural differences. • Technology may solve every issues around English in future. OK, let’s talk about future.
  7. 7. World of StarWars / StarTrek • English = galactic basic. Most people speaks English (sw) • There’s “universal translator”. (st) • Point is, people are using English or language as communication tool, but it does not mean they can understand their culture as well.
  8. 8. English is just “Lingua Franca” • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lingua_franca
  9. 9. My journey of English learning • Allaire developer conference (2000) • WPF / Silverlight (2006 – 2009 around) • Microsoft MIX speaking opportunities (2008 – 2010) • Work at global company (2011 – 20??) • I was “not” ready. But decided to speak. Move on!
  10. 10. For me, Microsoft is great English class • You all are expert of something. – You have topics to speak • Keynote / sessions of tier 1 conference like Build / Ignite • Skype / Teams call with Microsoft • Product Group Interaction (exclusive) • Speak to worldwide MVPs / Global summit
  11. 11. But they are never gonna stop to talk…. Excuse me. May I say something? I’d like to comment. I have something to say. May I have a turn? May I have the floor?
