About the Course
 Fazaia Teacher’s Training Institute (TTI) had specially designed a
course held on 15-19 June , 2015. Course objectives were:-
1. To develop understanding of teaching students about historical
and physical surroundings
2. Use their knowledge and skills to become informed citizens
3. Use of variety of teaching methods to deliver subject specific
contents in classrooms
4. Make teachers conscious of the need of affective language as an
important component of teaching Social studies
5. Repair viable instruction material that would serve as an essential
Aids to clarify the concepts of students
6. Talk wisely about the important issues happening in the country
and all over the world.

ACTIVITY
How to explain the geography?
 It is difficult to explain graphs, maps and different types of lands to students.
We can explain it with the help of charts with pictures of different types of
land like forest , desert, sea etc.
1. Pictures
2. Maps
3. Internet
4. Activities
Pictures
Maps
A map gives a small "picture" of a very large space. It can be very useful
for explaining different locations to students.
Internet
 Different places can be shown through internet for e.g. desert, waterfall,
mountains, volcanos etc.
Activities
Cooperative Learning
 Learning with the help of each others.
It includes:
1. Group Activity
2. Writing and presenting activity
3. Using Av-Aids
Group Activity
Students should be given different tasks individually and in form of groups.
Writing and presenting activity
It should be high level written activity like after a visit write sentences what
you observe. Questions should be made by students them selves. Do not
suggest questions.
Av-Aids
These things can be used as Av-Aids for better understanding.
Project work
Project work is a series of activities that allows the students to study, do
research and act by themselves using their abilities, interests, personal
experience and aptitudes.
Different topics can be given.
Scrap Book
They can make scrap book about different crops, pictures can be displayed
and information can be written.

Understanding
 Visualize is to imagine, or to paint a picture of something in your
mind, or to make something visible
 Example:
We can dramatized the important incidents of history by involving
the students, which will help them to remember the small details of
the incidents.
Visualizing
The ability to learn, judge or make decisions.
Rhyming
 Students are interested in listening rhymes, so this technique can be
applied to make them remember history facts easily.
Story Telling
Example:
In order to explain the path of River Indus, we can use the technique of
story telling. We can tell different stories about the caliphs and kings.
Acronym
An acronym is an abbreviation formed from the initial components in a
phrase or a word. Acronyms can be very helpful in learning long
phrases because they are easier to write and remember.
Examples:
1. DIY: Do It Yourself
2. BC: Before Crist
3. NASA: National Aeronautical and Space Administration
History facts can also be remembered by making sentences.
For example:

  • 3. About the Course  Fazaia Teacher’s Training Institute (TTI) had specially designed a course held on 15-19 June , 2015. Course objectives were:- 1. To develop understanding of teaching students about historical and physical surroundings 2. Use their knowledge and skills to become informed citizens 3. Use of variety of teaching methods to deliver subject specific contents in classrooms 4. Make teachers conscious of the need of affective language as an important component of teaching Social studies 5. Repair viable instruction material that would serve as an essential Aids to clarify the concepts of students 6. Talk wisely about the important issues happening in the country and all over the world.

  • 9. How to explain the geography?  It is difficult to explain graphs, maps and different types of lands to students. We can explain it with the help of charts with pictures of different types of land like forest , desert, sea etc. 1. Pictures 2. Maps 3. Internet 4. Activities
  • 11. Maps A map gives a small "picture" of a very large space. It can be very useful for explaining different locations to students.
  • 12. Internet  Different places can be shown through internet for e.g. desert, waterfall, mountains, volcanos etc.
  • 14. Cooperative Learning  Learning with the help of each others. It includes: 1. Group Activity 2. Writing and presenting activity 3. Using Av-Aids
  • 15. Group Activity Students should be given different tasks individually and in form of groups.
  • 16. Writing and presenting activity It should be high level written activity like after a visit write sentences what you observe. Questions should be made by students them selves. Do not suggest questions.
  • 17. Av-Aids These things can be used as Av-Aids for better understanding.
  • 18. Project work Project work is a series of activities that allows the students to study, do research and act by themselves using their abilities, interests, personal experience and aptitudes.

  • 20. Scrap Book They can make scrap book about different crops, pictures can be displayed and information can be written.

Understanding  Visualize is to imagine, or to paint a picture of something in your mind, or to make something visible  Example: We can dramatized the important incidents of history by involving the students, which will help them to remember the small details of the incidents. Visualizing The ability to learn, judge or make decisions.
  • 24. Rhyming  Students are interested in listening rhymes, so this technique can be applied to make them remember history facts easily. Story Telling Example: In order to explain the path of River Indus, we can use the technique of story telling. We can tell different stories about the caliphs and kings.
  • 25. Acronym An acronym is an abbreviation formed from the initial components in a phrase or a word. Acronyms can be very helpful in learning long phrases because they are easier to write and remember. Examples: 1. DIY: Do It Yourself 2. BC: Before Crist 3. NASA: National Aeronautical and Space Administration History facts can also be remembered by making sentences. For example: Baap Hamara Akber Jaan se Aziz Writing sentences:
